THE WINNER IS A TIE BETWEEN WELL KNOWN NATIONAL CHAMPION NICK WILLIAMS/ALICE MEI AND THE LESSER KNOWN (AT THAT POINT 2013), ITALIAN CHAMPIONS: VINCENZO/KATJA It has to be one of the best competitions I’ve ever seen over the years. I usually don’t tie anything. But in this one, it’s justified as +you will see, and I explain why, the 1st and 2nd spots were both ties. Why is it a tie? These are 2 different styles of dancing. Nick with his traditional American and the Italian Champions Vincenzo/Katja, European oriented swing, were equally super heroes in this and I don’t think you can separate them. Originally, I picked Nick as the clear winner, but upon reviewing Vincenzo’s performance which was at the end in better detail, it was so amazing, that this has to be a tie. WHY NICK/Alice TIED for #1? #1: Nick Williams and Alice Mei because: A. Nicks Class act and amazing skill set, and Alice, you can throw anything at her and she will handle it and come back with more goodies. B. A+ swing execution including Nicks Gangster style 8 counts at the beginning. C. His 10 spin turn in the middle of the dance which was almost superhuman and had everybody humming!!! D. Stylish E. Excellent musicality at key points that made a lot of sense. E. Energy - lots: especially Alice in the Followers Swivel around the Leader at the beginning and a massive free for all ending. F. Ending: Big time Jazz dance that had the audience mesmerized, followed by a Controlled nice good looking, quick stop pose to end. G. Alice Mei: tremendous following skills, musicality, energy, smiles, great footwork, facial expressions, poses, styling, attitude. WHY IS VINCENZO/Katja tied for 1st ? 1. Excellent 8 cts. Including: A. a few times where Vincenzo just spins completely her across the floor clockwise as he rushed to closed - very good looking and her perfect spins, styling etc. B. A move near the middle where Vincenzo does a real great footwork on the 8 ct and Katja’s 3 hops at the same time on the 7&8, was never seen before - very stylish; had some of their competitors mesmerized. 2. Perfect and smooth Texas Tommies. 3. Fantastic jazz walks and musicality including: A. one from Vincenzo near the beginning, where he faces Katja in a sugar push, and then parades her across the entire floor, walking her backwards and him forward, with exceptional, amazing, stylish, dynamic footwork by Vincenzo. Everyone in the audience, judges and performers were astonished. B. And toward the end, another slow Jazz walk with Katjas sexy wiggle, and her smile is highly contagious. Look at the expressions on some of the competitors faces. (Especially the ladies) at Katjas move. C. An 8 count spin by Vincenzo near the end!!!! 8 turns!!! Amazing! And 2nd for best solo spins, only to Nicks 10 turn spin. 3rd in spins was a very good one by National long time European dance champions across several dance styles: Henrik and Johanna. D. But then Vincenzo/Katja, added A 10 turn ballroom partner spin by both Vincenzo/Katja near the end - Another amazing turn. 4. Katjas great footwork, styling, musicality and a comedy performance where she’s scolding Vincenzo, the Italian way, towards the end, had everyone laughing, including ever one of their competitors. I was very tempted to put them into the winners circle. But Nick and Alice were just too good. The rest of these dancers all had great world class performances, some slightly better than others, The top 2 here tied and were standouts in front of them, in my opinion based on the FACTS I just explained. Whereas the Judges choose Sky/Frida for #1 and with no explanation for their picks (as usual) so that we can compare better. While I do respect their decision, if you read my review and go back and review the video, you’ll see everything stated here is true. For 2nd place another tie: Again. Both were too good to place one in front of another #2. Remy/Yessica & Nickolas/Mkayla Remy/Jessica A. Great Energy B. Above average Musicality C. Excellent swing moves including a few by Remy that were unusual, but excellent! D. A spectacular, showy, classy, best ending of all the dance couples. E. Remy: 2nd coming of Frankie Manning! Lol.... (not quite), but he’s amazing. F. Yessica, Great moves and very alert. #2. Nicholas and Mkayla A. Beautiful looking 8 counts. B. Exceptionally good and perfect swing C. Excellent musicality. D. Great Styling. E. They just plain looked good. #3, THIRD PLACE: Peter and Naomi Peter and Naomi: Beautiful traditional swing, including eight cts, superior footwork. They were great to watch. Both of these competitors are champion dancers and will go on to win many of these competition and prove they are great, after this competition (and before). But on this day, I stand by the above facts to the winners. I give Peter/Naomi a slight edge over Sky/Freda for 3rd, Peter/Naomi - perfect 8 cts, good musicality, excellent footwork, some unusual movements and great to watch. #4. Metta and Andreas - for 4th. Almost a tie with Sky, but gave them a slight advantage for 4th. The 2 Europeans, Great performance, fantastic musicality, incredible charlestons done to the music! - using the Charlestons as Musicality instead of improvised steps in some cases. And: smooth and confident cool moves by both, were a hairs breath to take Third place - very close. Excellent and congratulations to both of you. You are fun to watch and highly skilled. This is no downplay to be placed forth. You are dancing against the best in the world here, on this day, asked you also to go first and you performed admirably. #5. Sky and Freda. Outstanding swingouts, especially Freda. Great connection, and Superior charleston variations. But in my opinion, this is where they should be rated, as 5th, on this day, against this bunch. Note: Sky and Freda will go on to win many competitions proving how great they are in the upcoming years. I love watching these 2 dancers. But on this day, there’s no way, I could put them above the other 4, based on observable facts, what they did vs what the others did.

Thats too fast to even watch for me.

Flawless execution of the Lindy Hop. Vincenzo is the man 👨. Who can swing circles around the dancing 🕺clan. Never tire of Vincenzo's performance .

Does Vincenzo have a friend with benefits in Remy. He's the tops 😍 in the Lindy Hops. Vincenzo 🕺 keeps Remy humping and bumping to the heat 🥵 beat 💓 in the rhythm of his moves.

Alice and Remy: exceptional, flawless, errorless, and remarkable performance! This is one of my all time favorite watches. Both highly skilled precision, perfectly executed swing moves with style, wonderful musicality, and some show stomping extras. I could not find the official results anywhere on google, but this couple, in my opinion, deserved to be the winners. I show this video to all my new students so they understand the possibilities they could aim for. Thank you Alice and Remy.

wtf at 7:03 : first couple clearly improvised and was way smoother, second couple did a sloppy choreo... and second couple still won. This format sucks, you cannot win without choreography, true dancing skills are not rewarded.

I am really touched. So great, to see this dance evolve - incorporating inspirations from other dances like Blues, Tango, Quickstep and also being always Lindy Hop. So great to see Skye and Frieda who influenced a whole generation of dancers and building a new style, that can be seen now with a lot of couples here. What a hell must it be, to be a judge at this competition. They were so good, all. So spontaneous, creative, communicative and reacting to the (excellent performed) music, I had tears in my eyes. But it also shows, that this dance is not at all about competing, it is about having fun together, ... and maybe a little showing off - but that's okay, we all want to have fun with your dancing, just by looking at you. Thank you for this epic video. Though just a small light, I am proud of being part of this community.
